Join Emma Henry for a completely unique Jivamukti yoga retreat in Mongolia. Largely inaccessible to the Western world until recently, Mongolia offers a rare glimpse into an ancient culture and Mother Nature at her wildest in an environment that has seen little change for centuries. Time seems to stand still here and practicing yoga and meditation can be a liberating and powerful experience. You can expect silence, stillness, space, emptiness and big Mongolian skies.
Your Mongolia yoga retreat takes place in two very different locations. You will be glamping in our luxury yurt camps in the East Gobi and the interior parts of Gorkhi Terelj National Park.
We will travel to our first camp on the Trans Mongolian Railway and spend 4 nights there. With daily yoga, hikes into the desert, camel treks, massages, meditation and an evening kirtan deep in the desert around a campfire, our Gobi location is magical and other worldly.
Our second camp, the Khan Kentii, is a wilderness reaching all the way to the Russian/Siberian border. It is possibly one of the most beautiful places we have ever been, located on the Upper Tuul River which meanders gently through the vast meadows of wildflowers and through the lush forested hills.
You will spend 3 nights there and your yoga classes are complimented with a full day nature hike deep into the remote mountains. For those with experience there is an option for riding the world famous Mongolian horses. Splashing through rivers and riding up mountains on these semi wild animals is an unforgettable and exhilarating experience. There will be time to relax in our sauna set up close to the river, as well as kayaking and rafting options.
Emma Henry is an Advanced Certified Jivamukti Teacher. She will teach daily yoga classes. Each Jivamukti class offers a dynamic asana practice that is infused with inspiring teachings derived from the ancient yogic texts. Classes will include chanting, breath awareness, flowing vinyasa sequences, alignment exploration, hands-on assistance, relaxation and meditation.
Yogi’s of all levels are welcome on this retreat. We recommend you try a Jivamukti class before you come as it is a dynamic flow style of yoga. It is a yoga style that will require you to commit to your classes. Our teacher, Emma Henry, is one of the top Jivamukti teachers and very experienced at teaching mixed level groups so you can be sure of feeling challenged and inspired to safely explore and deepen your yoga practice.
If you have an injury or any health concerns please feel free to discuss with us in confidence before you book. Due to the remote location and sometimes challenging environment, we want to be sure this is the right holiday for you.

We will have a full day out in the Khan Kentii wilderness hiking with a local guide to explore to the spectacular landscape and stunning views. Sauna: In our Khan Kentii camp we have a sauna in a ger set up right next to the river! This is an experience not to be missed and we highly recommend it to relieve aching muscles and general tiredness. Once you have heated your body nicely you can run outside and jump into the (very refreshing) river to cool down. A top Mongolian revitalising experience!

Our yoga retreat accommodation is in traditional Mongolian gers – known in the UK as yurts. We have space for a maximum of 18 guests in single or twin gers.
The gers have wooden floors and are beautifully decorated in traditional nomadic style with hand-crafted furnishings. This a luxury camp, expertly run by a Mongolian team and our yoga retreat will assist the conservation efforts in the area as it brings finances to the local economy and protection efforts.
There are eco toilets which are a short walk from the camp. There are two beautiful yurts for showers, and we have a rota to make sure everyone can get clean! Water for your showers is collected from a well or the nearby river, carried by camel and yak cart, heated on a fire and placed in an overhead bucket.
Well being, health and safety: You’re going to be glamping in a remote and wild environment for a week and most likely encountering the unique Mongolian wilderness for the first time. You’ll need to be fit, strong, healthy and resilient for this holiday. A love of nature, camping and the great outdoors is a must.
You’ll be well looked after by an experienced retreat team, working hand-in-hand with an expert local team. Our camp is run by an international tour company, with many years experience of working in Mongolia. We will provide a comprehensive packing list to make sure you are well prepared.
Even though you’ll be with a group be prepared to experience solitude as there are no distractions here. We are off the grid and there is no phone reception and hardly any people – just incredible nature and you!
Digital detox: There is no phone or internet reception at the camp, only occasional solar power and the nearest town is three hours away. It is so quiet you can hear birds fly!
